Day #378

Well this is going off track pretty good.... :looney:
I'll shut up so this thread can continue where it should be.  :drinkingbud:

I am amazed that someone can make a judgement on a paint color based on a digital picture on a website viewed through a monitor... I'd think the person commissioning the work is the only person to correctly judge if they like the final product or not... And the have done just that.
Others should go back to their own work instead constantly picking on the same people. I think the word some would use to describe this kind of behaviour would be ''trolling''?
I'd guess 99% of the cars belonging to the members of this forum are not 100% accurate! When someone takes the time and effort to show the others what is involved in a real-world restoration for real-world customers, even if it's not meant to go for all of the concourse honours, that only a fraction of us have the means or desire to attain, I appreciate that, and I am sure most forum members also do.
Thanks Alan.

Ben

Not cool to come on a site in a public forum and bash someone's car.

anlauto

Thanks Ben, I agree and I think most members know what's going on here.  :looney:

Another member reminded me in a PM the other day of a very wise old saying "If your focusing on someone else's business than you are not focusing on your own"   :worship:  I believe that to be true here. :drinkingbud:  I have no clue why what I do on a daily basis is such a bother to some people.(or one person) :dunno:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I have no dog in the fight and enjoy watching this progress...But to act clueless as to why the scrutiny is happening is like watching the one sided presidential impeachment process... Maybe Mike is just trying to keep this one from ending up at his shop for repairs like the last resto ??? Sorry, But it needed to be said...

I guess I am, when customers are spending 10's of thousands to restore their pride and joy, I make an asserted effort to get it right and that's not even remotely close in the "restoration" world.

Who pee'd in your coffee. LOL. Obvious there is some history here. Wow.

If you repainted it, it isn't original. It may LOOK original, but it ain't. There is no way your gonna match the color exactly. Different technologies will make it appear different. A good eye should easily beable to tell a repainted. Car. So why are we pretending the exact shade makes any difference? I for one have done my own work and I could careless what you or anyone else says about my paint job or the shade of it. What made these cars great had little to do with the EXACT mix of green, black, red, etc. It was how the functioned. There is no shame on cheapening out. We all got budgets and to some of us, certain things are interchangeable.

Just get out there and ride, and stop sweating the small stuff .

Just my two cents.
Tom

Hey @SYDWAZ and @anlauto

Sweet car. I would love to have a T/A or AAR. Great job on restoring it.

Alan may be laughing but I doubt Erik is.....  This is a short video clip of the paint on Eriks car..... And yes Alan restored EriK's car...

I don't think member Hemicuda is intentionally disparaging member Sydwas' AAR, I think what he's doing is trying to get people to pay attention before they decide to commit to spending big $$$ on just any restoration shop.....

Oh, and BTW this wa my response to seeing that video for the first time......  If anyone whats to know more there's enough info here that a quick search should tell you what you need to know....

Well said Ben. I was reading thru this and have now personally had enough of this shit...
Stick to your own chest beating on your own threads. Those who want to will follow them.
I for one have tired of this. I cannot stand to keep looking into a thread I am interested in and then have it fucking blow up into this pissass crap.
The beatdown happened and it is now time for all the rest of us to move on and not keep getting sucked back into it.
This is what kills forums....
Keep it separated or I will be the first to just move on again...

Mike!
Life is to be viewed thru the windshield. Not rear view mirror.
You are the only one in charge of your destiny.

To comment on another guys post in such a negative way without being asked is not cool. Its a personal attack and not cool. Sure Eric's car was a mess but this post is no place for that IMO .
This site is not about further inflating swollen heads  , making Cody and the other mods get involved to suit your ego is pretty selfish IMO.  Integrity can be lost in "other way" not just workmanship.....

I did see that purple 'Cuda in person at Carlisle, not just in a video, and it looked good to me, (and to the owner, at that time...) and I complimented the owner instead of looking for flaws...
It's easy to bash on someone for one mistake, but you should also look at this to see how a good reputation is built overs years of good work:
http://www.alangallantautomotiverestoration.com/PAST-RESTORATIONS.html

There were probably other instances where some details had to be rectified in past restorations, and I am sure Alan did what he had to do to make it right, as many of those are repeat customers... without someone getting between his customers and himself to ''save the day''.
