Greg,

:welcome: aboard from an overseas owner of another RT/SE and thanks for sharing.

I am curious what the whole story of the car is, e.g. why it was parked so long and what's up with that N96-topic, as I don't see N96 "Shaker-hood" listed on the window-sticker, which I think would have been an option worth mentioning on that sticker.

Whats your scheduled production date? Mine is a N96-shaker car, SPD is 415 (April 15th 1970).

I also love Gator-grain-tops and the salt-n-peppa interiour really meets my taste, too.

Completely agree with Jeni, Cody and others: don't even think about a resto...preservation definately, but restoration would destroy this pure whitness of time...sorry, Alan ;-)))

Cool car indeed. What's the logo on the fender under R/T. I've never seen that on a Challenger before.

There's no N96 mentioned because it's not an N96 car & doesn't have an N96 hood..... It's got the standard performance bulge hood, sometimes referred to as the "Raisin Bran Hood" cause it has two scoops.....

Below is an N96 equipped Challenger...

It's always interesting to me to see how the car was originally ordered. In this case we have a pretty much decked out, expensive car, yet no optional Rallye wheels. The story usually goes that the cars with the steelies were ordered that way because the owner knew the day after he got the car, that different wheels were going on. I wonder in this case if he ever ran mags on it, or just liked the bare-bones look of the steelies and caps?

Here are a couple of other one-owner cars, you can see the 'day 2' look on them-

I'm not a fan either, I just clicked the link in the original post above...I guess because my wife is logged in on this computer it opened.

The guy probably tried to order N96 but didn't get it due to inventory.....a lot of similar stories but pretty hard to prove 47 years later  :dunno: I'm just guessing.....not really sure why MCACN would want it in a N96 display  :drunk:

I wonder if he has the original order form?  This is a one family car and seems to have a lot of documents with it.  Would not surprise me if they had a copy of the dealer order form that might show they ordered a shake?   :fingerscrossed:

we talked about that last night after you talked with him @Cuda Cody . He has more papers to go through and is possible he has the dealer order slip. with his build date and knowing that the N96 hood were back ordered for sometime.  :notsure:

No one seems to know the answer, I've asked a lot of knowledge people. From my knowledge there's one 1970 Challenger RT with gator grain, JS23R0B322094 in a museum.
