Perhaps your idea of "scuff" varies from mine. On an anodized finish a wash with pre-kleano and a "scuff" with an ultrafine 3M pad will not scratch- to the naked eye- the finish and then there's the matter of the clear "falling off". Do you see the clear falling off many cars these days? Were you aware they clear coat valve covers all the time? Good quality clear, applied properly on a properly prepared surface, will not fall off, period, but you do it your way.
