What is the purpose of the extra arm on the 71 drivers side wiper arm? I do not remember that being on my 74 back in the day, but heck maybe it was,  I can't remember what I did last week anymore..
The ones on this 71 I purchased , the wiper arms are painted , do they make aluminum or stainless ones??

It articulates the angle of the wiper blade, otherwise it would hit the windshield post.

All years had the double arm & yes stainless is normal .
