You might be right.  Mine did not have the fast ratio, but I think they just used the metal shield on all the T/A and AAR's that were autos.

They probably needed it due to the longer quick ratio steering arm.

@CudaCody I got my shield from Bill Meerholtz he doesn't have any listed on his web site  right now, you could call him and see if he has one or knows someone who does. I have had good luck getting hard to find parts from him.
