shipping a power steering box

I don't know about anyone else but I hate boxing things up for shipping.  My experience is limited to smaller things.(radio, alternator, wiper motor exc...)  A power steering box is a lot larger and heavier.  I doubt a USPS box is going to do the trick.  So, for those of you who have shipped a power steering box, how have you done it.  Pictures please if you have built something to ship it in. If you've received a box back from Firm Feel, maybe a picture of how they box them up.  Thanks

Triple wrap in plastic bag, find a box then a milk crate..... Milk crates are stout & have handles.... Large zip ties hold the box in the milk crate....

   I did not do the milk crate but good idea.  I added bubble wrap and some peanuts to keep it from punching a hole through the box.

Rev and I used to ship lots of heavy car parts... back in the day...  We love USPS Flat Rate "If it fits it ships!"
That said, if you do not "amour" the box it is going in you will think it was delivered by Trebuchet. 
    If you can find a small plastic storage tote and fill it with foam padding that could be an option.

Shipped mine in a homer bucket from home depot Worked great getting there. Wrapped it in bags packed it tight so it wouldn't move making sure the shafts are protected and taped the lid closed. The bucked has a handle and is easy to lift. Unfortunatley it was returned to me in the same bucket and poorly packed, causing a shaft to protrude out the bucket possibly causing an issue with the box.

seems pretty simple,although I do like the bucket idea too!

How does Firm Feel ship them?  I like the milk crate and bucket ideas.  I assume UPS or FedEx will take those no problem?  I thought about building wooden frame inside of a box.

I used a regular box and added layers of carboard around the steering box and packed it very tightly. No issues.

Mitigate movement and the part won't have different momentum relative to the box. [what causes damage]

FF just ships it in a cardboard box, wrapped in plastic with a bunch of peanuts with no fluid in the box.  No movement, no leaking.

Do you send the entire valve body along with the box?  The pictures on their website show the return hose inlet piece removed from the valve body.  Do I remove that and reinstall later or send it along?

Yes.  My FF box came with one already attached and instructions saying it has been set up and don't mess with it.  I sent my entire box with valve body back.

Firm feel shipped my box back in the Homer bucket and it's the one that got damaged.
