Would a stock T/A run anywhere near a high 11? I figured that'd be a 13-flat car at best?

From the comment section of the video:

I own both Challengers out out Stuart Fl. My 55 year old girlfriend was driving the new car. This was her first track experience with a stick shift car. We had no idea this video was being made at the time. The SRT is a stock track pack car with a cold air intake. It has been scaled at 4080 lbs no driver. On worn out original tires. Once we learned the right balance of slipping the clutch (to avoid tire spin) this car went 13.30 @ 107 mph. The T/A is a numbers matching sleeper. The small block is sporting a set of W 2 heads and a small roller cam. The original trans had worn syncros and a worn shifter. It had 3.91 gears, drag radials and factory suspension with NO traction devices. This is more of a road course car. I was being careful as my previous trip to the track resulted in a broken rear u-joint,pinion yoke and bent drive shaft. The 115.90 mph points that the engine is making power and with a good launch should run quicker than 11.50s. This car has also been scaled and with out driver is 3525lbs. This was ment to be a fun evening to the track with my girl and two FUN cars not a full out competition. The T/A is a quicker car. The SRT will run 170 + mph stock! corner like its on rails and gives me 24 mpg. I love them both and will most likely be adding a Hellcat when available in yellow to the collection.

That makes a bit more sense now.  :stayinlane:

Nowhere near stock at that kind of speed.. My challenger with a fairly worked / well tuned street 340 did a best of 12.97. And that car was fast. Stock the TA / AAR's were like high 13 / low 14 second cars if I recall.

RUNCHARGER

Yeah, about 15MPH faster in the quarter is a few HP.

That new Challenger was a 2010, so it's engine was rated at 426 HP.

A newer SRT would be in the 12's I would think.

6.1 L is 425 HP. 392 is 470 to 485 HP depending on years. Stock 392s are high 12s in the 1/4 per factory. Experience driver and good condition can do mid 12s. The new cars are just too heavy. If that TA is into the 11s, it must be making 500 to 600 HP range.

Notice the guy said the 70 T/A had a "small block". He didn't say 340.

I'm thinking it's a stroker and the cam is not as "mild" as one might believe.

:foul:   Stock TA's and AAR"S were low 14 second cars. I have many vintage magazine tests to back this up.

My 340 4 spd Duster would run 14.2 @ 98mph pretty much all the time and it was dead stock except for a pair of traction bars. That Challenger is no where near stock to run in the low 12's let alone into the 11's. It'd be interesting to get it on a chassis dyno- then there'd be no BS involved. Regardless, it's a sweet and fast car!
