Any ideas on how to track down what dealership sold my car when new?  I have no early sales documentation or monroney but I'd like to have a sticker made.  Would a sales order number get me anywhere?  Where would I start?  I posted this question on the Facebook page this morning and one fine fellow suggested the forum.  I understand @6bblgt is The Man!

Without any type of paperwork or unless somebody knows the car it is going to be very hard. Best of luck.

I am afraid of that.  Thank you for the reply @js27.   :fingerscrossed:

I am on the road and will be for the next two weeks  before I can be of any specific help

Do you have a broadcast sheet?
For the most part there are three types of orders:
Y16 - sales bank, spec'd by a Chrysler employee without a planned customer or dealership - some sort of paperwork would have to still remain to know its early history
Y14 - SOLD car, these are cars (by the letter of the law) that a dealership took a deposit from a customer on a customer spec'd ordered car.  These cars have a chance of tracking their original selling dealers based on their vehicle order number.

Other cars that do not have a "Y" code on their broadcast sheets are cars that dealerships ordered for STOCK, these also should be traceable with enough data.

But it's a big project given there were around 9,000 franchises in 1970. Although e-bodies are the most popular '70 models  today, by numbers they were least plentiful vs a b or c bodies when new

@6bblgt Thank you for the reply.  Yes, I am fortunate enough to have both the broadcast sheet and fender tag but it sounds like I am unfortunate that this car is coded for Y16 Sales Bank.
