1971 340 Cuda for sale

Way overpriced.  Here is one I looked at and really was hoping to put together a deal. it is a numbers matching but had so many problems, it was not worth the    Paint was put on before all the metal was repaired and that was just for starters. Probably could have bought it for 18k, but it was going to have to come completely apart. The owner had a body shop do the work and he was an absent owner and did not see the true horrible job they had done.

Didn't that one get purchased and finished ? I thought I saw it somewhere done

It was supposedly sold a few times, but from seeing the car in person, I lean towards that the prospective owner(s) said no way when the seller was delivering it. I was told the agent selling the car hauled it to Colorado and the seller refused it.  It had new front fenders and the left side has a major crack/split form the valance not bolted on letting the front lower fender panels flop in the wind for 3000 miles in an open trailer. It fell off the radar shortly after I traveled to southern CA to see the beast. The owner is out of country and was duped by the body shop from what I could get from the owners agent trying to sell it.

I actually bid on this car on eBay and was the highest bidder at $13k. Needless to say, it didn't meet the sellers reserve. So I drove out today to look at the car and it is all numbers matching for the body (minus the hood) and engine (no trans). The car has cancer in the floors and trans tunnel, the lower rear quarters will need to be replaced, along with possibly new front fenders. The lower rear valance is all beat up, and the underside has a lot of scaling and surface rust. I believe this is a solid $15k car. But Indont think the owner is going to budge off the $25k asking price too much. Without the build sheet, and gender tags, plus the missing transmission; he's going to have a difficult time selling it for the asking price. Hopefully I can buy it....for the right price😀👍

Last or pretty close to the last, either way it's a cool car and a very late VIN.  Hope you can get the car.

Yes, it's a 383. But it's a non-running car....I'm thinking $15k

The seller said he wants $22k for it. Said he turned down guys that offered him $19k cash! I did a break down and the restoration cost would be roughly $55k. This car doesn't have a build sheet or fender tags or supporting documents. I know there are restored 383 #'s matching with build sheets and fender tags that are for sale with asking prices around $60-70k....if I bought the car for $22k, I would be 10% over cost on the high end for one that's already done! I offered him $15k cash, and he turned me down saying he's not in a hurry. I think I'll just go buy one that's already done, if I can't find a reasonably priced project. What do you guys think, is his asking price fair? Am I too low on my offer? Thanks.

1971 Cuda projects seem to always be in the $20K+ range.....your offer of $15K might get you a project 1970 Cuda, but not likely a 71.....and YES...it will always be cheaper to buy a done car.

Are you picky on colors?  Does it have to be a 71?  55k to finish it might be enough, but what if it cost you 75k?  Would you be okay with that?    So many variables.  Unless you are picky and want to make it your "own," another vote for a finished one as these cars cost a small fortune to restore.

@71GranCoupe Thanks for sharing what you saw.  I saw this one on craigslist and questioned myself as I thought it was a way better deal vs what I have in the garage.  Looks like I didnt miss out after all.

PS  I live in SoCal but was born in Spokane and raised in Chewelah and Colville Wa until I went off to college.  Miss the PNW.
