Who do I buy a good regulator from? RTE?

I've had an RTE one in my car forever and no issues. IIRC it pulses like the original and you utilize the condenser (there's a terminal for it).

I also had one from Vans, no provision for the condenser with a constant 5v output.

I've always been a fan of RTE.

:iagree:  I've also had an RTE in my car for 10+ years with no issues.  I like the fact that it won't fry your gauges if it fails or loses ground.  My original limiter failed in the closed position sending a constant 12 volts to my gauges and fried the windings on every one of them.
