I dont plan on leaving my car where I cant see it, but lots of people use them as daily drivers. What is everyone one using? Deadman switch, kill switch, hidden start button, anti theft devices,  taking the steering wheel? Just curious what had been working for everyone.

I have a hidden electric fuel pump switch and a main battery cut off switch in the trunk.

I've got a Megasquirt ECU and  I use my phone to load up a tune that disables the fuel pump if the car is out of eye shot.  That won't stop a determined tow truck though.  Because of that I've been thinking of adding a GPS tracker.

Fuel pump kill switch, like in the Fords.  One good hit and they cut the circuit.  Can put it in the cabin where it can be kicked on the way out.

A Reed switch tied into to the starst circuit and a magnet in a hollowed out key fob is pretty stealth.

Unfortunately if someone wants it they will get it.  Last years Hot Rod power tour had two vehicles stolen from a hotel parking lot.  One owner had removed his steering wheel and had it in his room.

I have the millennial anti theft device, A third pedal  :haha:

I had previously installed cruise control and was no longer using it. Wired in that switch as the ignition cutout.
Had to turn on for car to start. No longer in use so I can state this out loud.
One of the best for the old carbureted cars is fuel shutoff.
For 2 reasons. 1 obviously fuel off. The best reason though is the car will still start. This allows them to get it moving and exposed. When car dies out in the open where they are no longer safe, odds are they will then just bolt from the scene and leave it.
Had a family member get his car back because of exactly this. Neighbor called him and asked why his car was just sitting in the street.
Life is to be viewed thru the windshield. Not rear view mirror.

Similar to Shawge, my car will need a tow truck to be hauled off unless you have a very long time to address the no crank and start/stall condition...not much brings more attention than a loud V8 that keeps starting and stalling.

McGard hood locks and I`d pull the coil wire and put it in my back pocket, can`t start it but they can always tow it away.

I'd guess that most millennials couldn't even start a carbureted car.

Use a hidden switch to ground the negative coil , hot wiring etc will have no effect , doesn't help much if they bring a tow truck tho !

I use a Club on the steering wheel. Pretty decent deterrent. Hard to steal if it can't be steered

I've always heard this is the easiest to install and most effective.
