What gauge wire was used on OE battery cables?  Were the positive and ground the same?

Thanks!

I've always wondered what the pig tails were for? Charging cables or something?

Thanks!  Are the lengths of the cables documented somewhere?  The item description on the cables at most of the restoration houses is severely lacking.  They publish application and that about all.  With the amount of detail many of us discuss on these forums, i am surprised the suppliers haven't picked up on it.

Dave @ Roseville can get you the correct repro ones if that is what you are after

The repro cables are pretty steep in price considering you can buy a cable of the same gauge from Standard Motor Products for under $25.00.  Its all what your after though.  OEM or other.  Battery Cables USA will also do custom lengths in various gauge wire for a good price.
