Ahhh Crap!!!!! Bad lifter?

Well crap...this does not sound good.   :pullinghair: :pullinghair:

Pretty sure this is a bad liter...hopefully nothing more serious.

I was able to isolate it to the exhaust on the number 7 cylinder.  I ran it with the valve cover off and put pressure on the rocker arms and it quiets significantly with pressure of the pushrod side of that rocker.

sigh...what this right way to fix this.

My dad used to have a tool that was like a small slide hammer that had a flanged end that locked into the lifter and it was the greatest invention since sliced bread but it's disappeared over the decades. You've got the intake back off?  :huh:

Only on the dipstick...looks fine, does not appear to be any metal in it.

I do not have the intake off yet. I was hoping not to have to take it off.

Oh yeah moving up and down with the magnet and spinning. Just wont come all the way out!!

A new lifter should just slide out .
Can you pull the dist & see the lobe ?

If it raises up a bit and then won't come out the rest of the way I don't think that things look good. Sorry.
