Working on swapping my Dana into the car and replace the current 8 3/4 in the car.

Wondering if there is anything I should know prior to the swap - driveshaft or spring perch differences etc.  anything I should look out for?

Just doing a quick swap so the car remains mobile until I work up a dolly system - want to try and get the 8-3/4 gone so I have more space.

Thanks
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

The dana is a bolt in if it's from an E body, the drive shaft on a dana is 1" shorter than the 8 3/4 one and the dana yoke uses the larger u joint.

@704406 thanks much!  My Dana is from an e-body and correct for my resto, but that is what I was afraid of and did not want to go in blind.

Of course, this begs another question - any specs or part numbers for an original driveshaft, or source for a good reproduction for a 440 auto with Dana?  Looks like I will be on the hunt yet again.
Did some quick searches but did not find much on driveshaft identification

Also, I do not have the tools for a Dana rebuild, I usually use Currie Enterprises here locally for rear end rebuilds - for a correct restoration, waht is the finish for the housing, backing plates, drums etc?  I found some threads on the 8-3/4 but not Dana.  thanks

I've never bought anything from Denny's Driveshafts but their website is very nice and has some good technical information.

Cuda dana 60 driveshaft length is 42.60 centre to centre on the 7290 u joints, auto and 4 Spd. are the same length. part # 2883775
8 3/4 is 43.60 auto and 4 Spd.
I'd get one made locally, or shorten yours an inch if it has the big u joints they are all made from the same material no matter what engine and transmission combination.

Attached are some Dana 60 pics I saved from the net, not sure how correct the finishing is.  Not sure where I snagged these or who posted them originally.

There would be different spring part numbers with a high performance drivetrain equipped with the Dana that Jad higher spring rates, wouldn't matter now for you to roll around.

I use a generic semi-gloss black powder-coat that the local shop here does, but some one would have the correct percentage of gloss for a concourse restoration.

Just did my Dana 60 install
