Last rebuild of my 340 I went solid Comp Cams. I`ve used regular semi-synthetic Amalie oil and the Comp Cams additive for break in and oil changes per their recommendation and no issues.

I run Joe Gibbs LS 30, Recommended by Tim from FHO. It seems really light but he said it get everywhere fast. I'll go with what he recommends but I'm sure different motors like different stuff.

I have a hyd roller but still use Brad Penn 20w-50

Hey @Brads70 where do you find that stuff in Canada.  I found it on Amazon, but the price was crazy!

Jason

I can get it locally . Local jobber supplies circle track guys. So he has it in stock but yes it is pricey. I bought a couple cases at Carlisle. There is always the same guy selling it there, much cheaper than buying it at home.

I as well run Joe Gibbs. I love Brad Penn but it's so costly to get locally. Next time I am in the USA I am going to buy a case.
Someday I will have a J0b.

I pretty much run hydraulic flat tappet cams in all the motors I build. It's my personal preference for street motors. Driven HR 1 oil is outstanding in every aspect and I have run it but it's on the pricey side. They put additives in there designed for military equipment that sits for long periods and this oil leaves a protective film all over everything to prevent any internal corrosion. I have personally pulled oil pans and see exactly what they are talking about. It's not hype. Ideal for muscle cars that sit for long winters. Contains high zinc also. My main go to oil is the Lucas Hot Rod oil with high zinc. It's a very high quality oil and reasonably priced. Summit Racing carries it.

On another note. Crower is making cam saver lifters. They have a small flat spot on the side of the lifter which puts oil right on the cam surface instead of relying on splash to lubricate it. Great design. Ran them in the last couple motors I built.

What brand of oil do you use for your engine, engine with flat tappet?
Do you add some ZDDP in your oil?

Read thru a good bit of that link, nice to see my daily driver with 415,000 miles uses one of the top oils, Pennzoil Platinum.
