Hell I just went through a tank testing and tuning with a small block this past weekend. That was only 125 miles.

Yeah Yeah Yeah,  I know.  I got that whole job thing and other interest in life thing going on while its warm outside.  My weather forecast is calling for rain for a few more days too.  And I am going out of town to celebrate Moms birthday as a priority.  I will get on it soon.  Parts are in hand.  And no, I don't need any volunteers to help me empty the tank while I am gone.   :stop:

Shane,  how do you get so many miles out of a tank??  Those little motors are so cute!! :pokeeye:

:haha: I'm not sure that 8.5 mpg is all that great! I prefer the little guy because it packs a big punch.
I still build and work on big blocks. Have a 496 stroker I built in a 69 Barracuda I'm currently putting back together. The big blocks are so damn heavy and sometimes tough to keep cool. Then when you have to wrench on them in the car you can truly appreciate the small block. That Hemi Challenger I built really rips and looks awesome under the hood. Owner wants me to put quick ratio power steering on it now.  :crying: you can barely see the steering box with the headers in the way.

Now get out there burn that fuel! :burnout:

I was just playing.  I had a small block and appreciated is power to weight advantage.  Sounds like you have some really nice cars.  None of our cars are built for gas milage.  I have been averaging 6 miles per gallon.  I don't have enough miles on since sorting it out to start checking milage.  I wonder if my milage will get better now that it is running right.?  But probably not because I will want to have my foot in it all the time.  :burnout:  I hope it doesn't get worse!!

It is raining here now, or I would be working one burning this tank down right now.

Running well the milage should Always improve , but think SMiles/ gallon not Miles !! :stayinlane:

Well the MSD high vibration coil took a shit last night. I was tuning on the motor and started smelling the car was running rich and then it started idling down and died. No spark. Change the coil and fired right up. So the coil laying on it's side is not the issue. I have come to the conclusion that the MSD coils don't play well with the Mopar chrome ignition box. I just can't imagine that all these MSD coils are junk. But I'm done with them.  :pullinghair: I had bought a couple coils from Rehrenberg on Ebay. One has been on my Road Runner for about 600 miles and no issues so far. Going to stick the other one back on the Cuda.

I have not had good luck with anything MSD overall , I have used Pertronics coils

Guess I'm just lucky with MSD components.

Not a single issue.

In the past I have had good service as well. But I will say I had always ran their boxes with their coils. That's why I'm thinking there is a issue running MSD's coil with the Mopar box. Yet another thing MSD said would be fine.

Have you tried another chrome box?  I wonder if there is something wrong internally with that box which is burning up your coils?

Both my cars have been eating them. They do both have chrome boxes. It may be a issue running the chrome box in general but it's not going to be specific to that one box. At first I was thinking they were leaking oil and causing them to overheat. But I have had a couple die without leaking oil. I had one blow the top apart and one blow the top loose. So I'm baffled to what's really happening. But one thing is for sure. I'm done messing with them.

I understand that the coil load can cause the ECU to fail but I have never heard of the opposite situation nor does this make any sense  :notsure:

Hmm: Okay, looking back over the last five years I have had way more ignition failures than the previous 35 years combined. Now that I think of it all the coils were MSD, the boxes were a mixture of chrome and MSD. Makes you think all right.

I agree with you 100%. It's just hard to believe all these coils are junk. So in total I have 5 Blaster 2's and a high vibration coil that have failed this summer. 2 different cars.
