And no one thinks milling the choke off is the best option? Easy, Cheap, Effective.....

He's losing airflow because with a drop base the air cleaner lid nearly touches the choke tower... Eliminate the choke tower & the engine can breathe again...

I agree with this, but I am not sold on it choking the engine out for just yet. :pokeeye:

to fit a 3 inch filter, when I had a stock Cuda hood, I removed the bracket that was
in the hood over the air filter.  I also had a machine shop mil 3/8 inch off the top of the single
plain intake manifold.

I'd be hood shopping. However if the K-frame was really bent that would be something to replace and make right before driving the car again.

Its a great option. We've thrown a bunch of them out there for consideration. OP needs to dig into it all and decide.

I was told you need 1" from the top of the aircleaner to the vent ( thinking Holley) . This is from some oldschool circle track racers that I trust and usually heed their advice.

Measured mine yesterday...5/8 inch...

Going to my Napa store today to see if i can find an air filter that is 1/2 taller...   Maybe that would fit and be enough..

1" seems to be the preferred clearance altho I have seen some that got by with closer to 3/8" on the street.
