Ok, working my way through this old 318. Any suggestions for a dizzy/ignition system? It has the original 1973 Chrysler set up. Wondering if I should go to something more modern/reliable. TIA.

If its the pointless distributor, there is nothing wrong with it IMO.  The ignition module can be replaced cheaply.  Supposedly the quality isn't as good as it once was but just carry a spare.  Or there are aftermarket ones, but they might require other changes.  If you are not doing a high performance build I think the stock system makes the most sense and the money could be better spent elsewhere.

If you are running mostly stock, then stick with the stock ignition and invest project dollars at next item on your list!

mancini has ECUs for $15 by a spare & put it in the glove box , if it still has the factory ecu it will likely last a long time , Upgrade to a Rev N Ator if you want , probably will not feel the difference on a 318 tho

Agree on sticking it out with the stock setup.

The rev n ator would be an easy upgrade too. No Messi g with wiring and you can use the stock setup in case a component goes down.

On my tired smog era 340 I had a very noticeable improvement with installing the rev n ator box!  All
I had done at that point was a tune up of timing and carb. I wouldn't be surprised if you noticed an improvement on a 318 too!
