New Clutch Problem/Question...

Actually asking for a friend who is restoring a tired AAR Cuda. When he bought it last fall, it had a new clutch in it and the pedal grabbed low as it should but after he rebuilt the engine and put it back in, the clutch now grabs too high for his liking. He's a seasoned mechanic but baffled. Its a new clutch. Any thoughts?

The first thing that comes to mind is adjustment , there should only be 3/4" of free play at the top of the pedal travel , is the clutch snapped onto the pivot properly ?
