I need some input on what converter to buy. First off let's start with I have a 71 Challenger with a 360 in it. Hughes whiplash cam, headers, aluminum intake and put FiTech on it. Rest of the motor is stock. I just bought a TCI Street fighter 904 trans to replace the stock factory one. Which totally crapped out. It has a aftermarket converter in it but I'm worried that I can't clean all the bad fluid out of it. Also don't remember what it is for sure. I purchased it from someone here when I put the 360 in it (had a 318). Has a 8 3/4 rear with 3.73 gears and a spoll. I street drive the car alot and will be doing occasional drag racing with it. I'm going to say probably a 3k stall would be my best bet. First question is do I buy a weighted or unweighted converter? I have the + shaped flexplate and the crescent moon shaped one also. Crescent moon shaped one is in it now. Second question is what brand and model converter should I get?

I would contact the different convertor manufacturers and give them this info and follow their recommendations. Their tech contact numbers should be available by just Google-ing their names.

3k seems too high, I would think 2200-2500 would match your combo

What is the RPM range of the cam?

Honestly, it's probably best to contact a manufacturer if you aren't real sure and if you are deviating from stock by any amount. I also got a cam from Hughes engine and ended up going with hughes performance. The guy on the phone asked me a few questions and made a recommendation. I thought some sites had a calculator.

Hughes cams usually recommend a stall speed with there cam, mine was 2800rpm + with 3.70 + gears.

Your rim and tires size also play a role, don't forget to factor that in.
