73 340 challenger. Recently removed tail piece extension housing to replace bushing and rear seal. After reinstalling tail piece wouldn`t shift out of park. Removed valve body and noticed park lock rod slightly bent. Replaced park lock rod, reinstalled valve body and now shifts out of park ,but when turning rear wheels in gear I hear a clicking sound. Any ideas where to start diagnosis ?

Parking pawl not disengaging completely.

Maybe parking pawl damaged and can that be replaced or repaired in tail piece ?

FIXED !! Park lock rod slightly bent. Put in vise and slightly straightend it enough to engage park lever inside tail piece. Moral of the story is when replacing tail piece be sure park lock rod is in proper position before tightening bolts. Probably better to take valve body out , then install tail piece completely then reinstall valve body to make sure park lock rod is in proper position. Thanks for replies.
