Tremec TR6060 shifter location

Hello Everyone! Just picked up a TR6060 Transmission last week 1k, figured it was a good deal.


But it didn't come with the original shift mechanism and rods, which I think is fine as I heard it's location is too far back for our classic E-bodies.  I did some research (i think) and found that some people were using this adapter that just bolts right on top instead of using the factory shift mechanism.  Just wanted to confirm that this is what I needed.  I haven't cut the trans tunnel yet and/or mounted the trans so i'm not sure how far back it really is.  I'd like to run the center console if at all possible.

I've not done one either, but that looks like it's going to take up a lot of room.   Would be super cool to have one and it's just going to take a bit of test fitting to make it work.  How far along in the metal work are you?

But this lists as not for use in original Challenger but original 2010 or 1970 ?
But this way u can offset the handle & position it where you need it seeing as you will be cutting the floor anyway

Going to be plenty of fabrication on that project. That dude is huge! I suspect the whole transmission tunnel and torsion bar cross member will need some serious work.

I was thinking the same thing...bad enough with a TKO600 5 speed

I have a whole center of the floor cut out 

Going to mock something up, get it fitted, then install the new floor pan and hope it goes well.  I'm having a fabrication shop handle all this, left it to the pros

Yep should be lots of headaches, beers and cusswords.  Planning on upgrading suspension and getting rid of the torsion bars, and will need to fab a crossmember as well.

I have torsion bars and a t56 magnum [same case size as the tr6060]. It should work out fine, but areas are beefed up to accommodate.
