I know you guys are gonna think I am an idiot, but this is my first Mopar engine.  What are these crescent-shaped holes in the heads?  Will the valley pan cover these holes?  This is a 383 with 906 heads.  We are getting it ready to paint so that assembly can start.  Should get the paint on tomorrow.
Thanks.

It doesn't get covered... They are just open space around the heat crossover, they don't go anywhere.... Nothing to worry about...

It allows a lot of the heat from the exhaust crossover to escape which is good , you usually find some small carb clips etc in those holes .

I suspect they were designed to catch various hardware, tools etc basically anything you DON'T want to fall in there..... :haha:
