Man is that ever a tall tire up front!

Needed so the oil pan wouldn't drag in the snow! I seen that car about 25 years ago, it was restored and painted F8 Centari and it was very nicely sprayed.

Taller tires create more roll out so the car get moving more before the e.t. beam is broken. Changing tire diameter allows you to tune when the car breaks the beam compared to when the driver wants to leave off the tree.

With a tire that big, you could hit the gas as soon as the last yellow comes on and have the car  move 6-8 inches closer to the finish line before the clock actually started.

I still vividly remember the excitement of "Street" racing with Big Willie and his wife in the streets of Los Angeles back in the day.
