BJ is kind of a flavour of the month deal. One year a drunken guy shows off by letting his kid bid on a Super Bee the next year some dude wants to show off to his trophy wife by paying too much for a 75 Corvette. All of these guys want to be on TV.

:iagree:  Very true; I saw the same thing last year.  Is wrong for me to aspire to be a drunk guys with and trophy wife and too muck money?   :)
It would eventually get boring, but I'd still be happy to try it out for a couple years!  :))

Ha, ha: Yep.
What I see guys building now are a lot of A-body Chevys and second generation F-bodies. I think if you want to make money flipping cars right now the cars to pick up are second generatiion Camaros and Trans Ams.  I still see 4 speed examples being bought fairly cheap and with a bit of fluffing they are easy to resell. A lot easier than a $40k E-body. That's what I see everyday at work anyway.

Some numbers from American Car Collector:

Here is what we know so far:

Barrett-Jackson achieved a stunning $131.6m in Scottsdale. 1,800 mostly no reserve vehicles crossed the block. The top-selling vehicle during the event was a 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition coupe, VIN 001, bringing in $2.5m to benefit the United Way for Southeastern Michigan. The top selling non-charity American vehicle was the 2005 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo coupe selling for $687,500.

Gooding & Company accumulated more than $48.2 million in Arizona. The top two selling American cars were two Shelby Cobras. The 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 roadster for $1,050,000 and the 1965 Shelby Cobra 289 roadster selling for $912,500.

RM Sotheby's pulled in a strong $36.9 million from 131 vehicle lots. Of the American vehicles sold, a classic 1930 Cadillac V16 Sport Phaeton sold for $940k and was only bested by a 1948 Tucker 48 sedan that achieved $1.6m.

Bonhams sold 90% of all vehicle lots at their Scottsdale auction and finished with a total of $16.1 million. Top American sales went to two Packards: The 1932 Packard Twin Six roadster and the 1932 Packard Super Eight roadster selling for $212,800 and $204,400, respectively.

Worldwide Auctioneers finished their Arizona event with a total of $9.5 million. Four out of the five top-sellers were American vehicles. The top two American sellers were both 1935 Auburn 851 SC Boattail Speedsters. Lot 52 sold for $687,500 and lot 24 brought in $632,500.

We are still awaiting in-depth results from Russo and Steele, but the 2019 Scottsdale auction pulled in $11.8m so far.

A friend bought the McLaren Senna and I don't think it was an charity car.  He paid nearly 1.5 million for it.  So I don't think the Saleen S7 was top non charity.
