That wasn't awkward at all.  I'm suprised he even knew what he owned sure didn't know much about it

Just watched a 2005 Ford GT sell for $272K with super low miles...prices really are down!

Topcat

Watched a bit of it myself.

Seems there's some interest in custom Musclecars.

The In Violet Hemicuda hit $250,000

I thought that was strong money for that car. I know one of my friends local has one. Are they worth much more then that ?

The GT's were bringing 300-350 but it looks like that is a thing of the past.

I saw more modded cars take home $$$ than purist cars it seems.

70 340 #s Challenger for 37K!! There can't be a very strong Mopar crowd at BJ. I'm sure the same car would have brought somewhere around double at Mecum a week ago.

Anyone have any ideas where the money went?  Was the crowds down this year or was there anything else that could be playing a factor?  There's always some cars that are better then others, but across the board the Mopar prices seem down.   :notsure:

I don't think the price of Mopars is down at all.....ever since BJ introduced the "no reserve" auctions, they stopped getting quality cars. :alan2cents:
The cars at BJ were not quality cars at all.

When did they go to no reserve auctions?

Been that way for awhile now.   I know a few people that take cars to BJ.  I prefer to build my own cars or have someone I trust do it.   :alan2cents:

BJ and other high end auction houses have gone no reserve for one reason = they get paid no matter what.

I'm thinking of doing a little homework and checking out the BJ Mopar auction prices to see what sold and what didn't.

Alright let's break down this BJ Scottsdale auction purely from a numbers perspective. There will be differences of opinion on quality of build and other things but at least we have data. I cannot believe that all these Mopars are bad builds right?

I was going to do other builds but since this is an ebody site let's stick to that for now:

So what conclusions do I draw from this last auction, custom cars cleaned up! Looks like the Hemi Cuda craze is kinda dying off and owning a piece of racing history is in. Remind me, weren't the V-codes bringing in > 120k not long ago?

Anyway, food for thought.

One of the things Scott Smith (Harms) mentioned was the weather.  He was down there and said it was raining buckets on Friday and then Saturday the wind picked up.  If the crowds were turned off by this it could have an effect on the price?   :dunno:  He seemed to think it did.  But even with bad weather in the past, the prices seemed to still hold up somewhat.  But this was definitely a down year for Mopar.  How much you want to bet that in the next year or two the Mopars will not show up in the volume they were this year and we'll see a ton of customs modded cars and VW buses?

Foul weather might keep some spectators away but I doubt that it would deter a serious car buyer. This is an indoor event for the most part. If there was a car there that I wanted to buy it would take tornado warnings to keep me away. Maybe living in the great white north has me a little immuned to foul weather.
