Hey All!

So I'm eyeing up an e-body Barracuda in Staten Island, NY.  I found it on Facebook Marketplace.  I've talked to the owner and learned the recent history of the vehicle.  It was purchased and built to be used in a movie but then it appears the movie itself got mothballed.  One of the two cars built was sold off, but the other was kept by the owner of the company that provided the movie cars.  Both were - and I'm quoting here - "rotisserie-restored" by a company in Colorado before being shipped to Staten Island.  The car has been driven very little since it was received in NY in ~2010.

It is a custom color - some sort of copperish brown/orange color, with a 440 engine and auto trans, and has a go-wing and vinyl top.  The vinyl top doesn't appear to be installed quite right as there are some areas of bunched-up fabric along the C-pillar at the rear side windows.  The owner says there is no rust on the car - again, I'm quoting - and that the only known issue besides that vinyl top is a scrape on the underside from when it was loaded onto a trailer at some point.  I have no idea how minor-or-severe that is.

I'm seriously considering buying the car but NYC is a tough place to get in/around.  I'd hate to make that trip for nothing, so I'd like to see if someone can take a peak at it for me.  The owner is an older guy, looking to retire, and is relatively available except for having to make frequent cancer treatments each day.  (He says he's expected to recover, which is good!)  The car is in the Stapleton area of Staten Island, on the NE corner, right along the water.

I'll compensate anyone for travel/tolls/etc, as I know what it takes to get around that area!!  If you're available/willing to help, please PM me with your contact info and I'll get back to you right away!

Thanks so much.

Jeff

Yeah - @Spikedog08 made the incredible mistake of letting me drive his 'vert from where he unloaded it off the trailer to where his room was during Carlisle weekend - all of maybe 1.5 tenths of a mile...  As my wife walked back to our room, I drove past her slowly with the window down and said, "Oh yeah - we're buying another one of these..."  She smiled.  :)

If it were closer I would be more than happy to do it for you! It's about 6 hours from me.  :sorry:

Yeah I suspect that the proximity of this car to New York City is both helping and hurting me.  It's helping in that most folks in that area have no use for or place to put a car like this, which is why it's been out there for weeks with no buyers, but in that same vein there are no EBO members nearby who can go and look at it for me for that same reason.  :)

I fear I'm going to need to just drive up there and hope that it's worth towing home...

One more quick bump...  Not looking good here...  At least the car is still available!

If that doesn't work out, you may have to bite the bullet and make the trip. I recently went from So. cal to Connecticut to see my Barracuda and while it was a pain, it was very well worth the trip. No one wanted my car but when I saw it, it turned out to be quite a bit nicer than I expected. The seller just didn't do the car any justice with the poor description and photos in the ad. The trip wasn't fun but now that it's over and I'm driving the car, I don't give the trip a moments thought.
