I had a guy once tell me that my car "had potential". Also, while he was gabbing to his girlfriend I heard him and said "what". Then he said something like , Oh I didn't see you sitting there, good thing you didn't hear me. Yes, it's a 20 footer, driver, with an older restoration. Okay, well maybe he was right but I wish he would have owned up to what he said to his lady.

This is my point.  Did this guy wake up and decide to go to a car show to simply piss in someone else's punchbowl?

What did he get from this?

" well not everyone can have the desired years..."

I probably would of said something like . . . yeah to bad your top doesn't go down.

Went to a show last year in the convertible and as soon as I parked, a guy and his wife came up to see the car.  After talking to him for a minute, he indicated he had an original 71 hemi cuda . . . I was like . . . "WOW that is awesome"  . . . his response was, "Yeah cool car but my top doesn't go down."

Clearly a 71 Hemi Cuda is an amazing car but not everyone has the same opinion.
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

Dammit Mike! Brea, that's just up the freeway from me, I would have cheerfully gone to that Dads Day show with you and we could have doubled up on that yahoo!!  As everyone has said here, what do we go to these gatherings for anyway? Maybe he and his Cuda should go to the corner until his attitude changes..............or until his father gets home. I went recently to a local show here in Riverside, not a lot of Mopars, but none the less. One guy and his sub-lime green 440 RR (Randy) a real friendly individual willing to share the life of his car and himself to me. One helluva beautiful Plymouth and he works at K&N. I told of my '70 Challenger w/ SL6 he was really and genuinely interested (you can tell). I have had car guys see a '70 Challenger, like mine, at a show or cruise and stare not saying a word and then screw up their face and go "meh" and walk away. And then there are those that will look and smile and say"wow"this is a nice car, then say I didn't know you could get a six in a Challenger.? Tell me more about your car.   Nuff said.......     Thanks,   Al

I was at a car show Sunday and I told the owner for a brand new 2017 Challenger T/A that they really blew it when then put the AAR hood on it when they already have a T/A hood being produced.....I guess that makes me an A-hole...

....The owner actually agreed with me and said he was already thinking about swapping it out... :takemymoney:

I went to a local car show (there's one every Friday here) and my car was picked apart. I could tell these jokers had fun doing it.My survivor T/A has some scratches and dings. I guess it must be a POS till I have it restored.

Doesn't just happen at shows.  I see it on the online forums, too.  People constantly trashing the 72+ e bodies for one thing or another.  IMO they are all pretty sweet and we are lucky to own any of them.
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

Oldschool

I stopped paying any attention to the gawkers at car shows. Most of them don't even have a classic car of any kind, yet they are experts about all cars. I hear people all the time saying they are experts telling people all about my car and cars like it. They start rambling on and on and after a sentence or two, I tune them out because they are clueless. Just part of the deal when you put your car out there for public consumption.......

Am I in a class all by myself? I've never had any negative comments on my 74. It's just a driver but I try to make it a good looking driver. I get tons of compliments and thumbs up. Maybe my day is coming.  :dunno:

It will be interesting to see when we take the 74 duster out. Dusters have the same year stigma as Challys and Cudas.  Although, I can't imagine anyone saying anything bad about the car to Pixie's face.  She's just too sweet.  But....if they do...  I pity the fool!   :help:  She's a bit of a firecracker and doesn't put up with that kind of rudeness.

How does one pick apart a TA or an AAR?

Oh I know... "it's just a small block!"  LOL

Rev-It-Up,

Do you remember when we went to the Southern Mopar Nats at Commerce years ago? I had to get rude with Galen Govier about my car. He kept walking back over to it and writing stuff down on a notepad. I finally asked him what he was doing and he told me it was none of my business. I told him in no uncertain terms to get the hell away from the car because he had no reason to be there looking at it and I was in no need of his services. He got a sorta stunned look on his face but he walked away. The reason I told him to leave was a comment or two I overheard him say to the fella that was with him. He was making statements that he had no clue about.....   It happens.....

Funny story... So in addition to my Mopars I also have a 1987 Buick Grand National.

I was at a car show with it one year and there were a group of kids (14-16) with one male adult who was listening to the kids comment on all of the cars (Plenty of Ooohs and Aahhhs).  Well they get to my car and they are perplexed, they are not sure what it is and they started to walk away and one of the kids says "Meh just a chevy 350" to which the adult male that was with him said "What?  A Chevy 350?  Do you even know what you are talking about?"  I could not help but laugh.

The guy got the youngster back in front of my car and schooled him on the differences between a Chevy 350 and a v6 Buick 3.8 turbo.  The kid was really embarrassed, and I actually felt bad for him, so I told him about the car and the work that has been done to it.  He asked me how fast it was and I told him "extremely".  He just smiled, gave me a high 5 and walked away.  I thought it was pretty cool.

I sure do remember that!  That was so strange.  Why he wouldn't have the courtesy to talk to you about the interest he had in your car was ridiculous.

You don't even know the hate until you drive a Neon lol. I judge a person by their actions and not a group (Muscle cars, imports, etc), but after awhile in my 2005 Dodge Neon-SRT4 it got annoying. Import guys would talk crap to me cuz I wasn't an import and muscle car guys would talk crap to me cuz I was a 4 banger. I left plenty of them in the dust though  :D That car surprised a lot of people and my car was far from stock too. The amount of ignorance that some people have never ceases to amaze me. If it's not your ride, then why do you care? Either way I have developed a pretty tough skin after owning my SRT4. I won't hold back if someone is talking crap though, I think they deserve to know they are being an asshat lol.
