I was reading on another forum & a member who use to live in LA but moved to Greece posted that he was no longer able to drive his 70 Charger.....  And this article was linked...

Cars from 1997 & trucks from 1994.... Cars from 1997? Hell I know allot of people who still drive cars from 1997....  Crazy...

It's always been said that these cars would never be banned... Well.....

:unbelievable: That's crazy. Do I want to hold on to it hoping it has value as a museum piece or get out while I can. Or like my guns (not that I have any of those) they will have to "pry it from my cold dead hands".  8)

That's a game changer for many. Quite a shame.

No more gas or diesel cars in California? State considers ban
http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/transportation/article175740811.html
From article
While the ban would be at least a decade away, Mary Nichols, the chairwoman of the California Air Resources Board, said putting California motorists in an all-electric fleet would help the state meet its ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Tailpipes generate more than one-third of all greenhouse gases, according to state data, and so far only a small fraction of California's motorists drive electric vehicles.

If and or when, we may have to go electric motor conversions to drive our cars.

@Cudakiller 70 That Zombie creator is looking like a genius right now!  :wrenching: I know it's almost exclusively SF to LA but good heavens that state is a mess. One of my best friends lives out there in one of those cities and I don't know how you all do it.

Jerry Brown is an old politician somehow able to got his bud back on the governor chair. Why is he comparing US to China? He is an elected official and none of that will ever happen in China. Are they going to ban cars from out of State at the border? State election is coming up. You know what to do.

They will get my cars off the road when they pry the pistol grip shifter from my cold dead fingers!  :P

I truly don't understand where these environmental elitists think the electric will come from to power these electric vehicles since they don't want fossil fuels power plants, nuclear or any other viable solution. All they are willing to say is no to almost everything. I worked in a coal fired power station for more than 35 years. The plant was state-of-the-art when it was built in the early 70's for a cost of 245 million and when all three 750 MW units were running WOT they produced 2250 MW of power every hour of every day and provided that power for residential, commercial and other consumers. 585 million dollars was spent to install scrubbers to rid the stack emissions of NOX. The plant now spends more money each month for environmental controls as it does for the fuel (coal) that it burns. Do these environmental folks realize that solar, wind, tide, etc can never take the place of base load generation? If we continue down this path, we can look forward to rolling or selective brownouts/blackouts. Sorry about the soap box---I am off now.

As always follow the money trail. Car manufacturers don't make any money when people drive old cars so they roundabout push this stuff.
