Because I'm too lazy to look it up, a few questions for the gurus...

-Trying to label everything on wiring harness as I remove, there was a free floating round plug 1" diameter with 3 spade slots whats it for inside engine bay ?

-driver foot board has module and vacuum tube that is several feet long inside engine bay, what is it? smog? throw it out?

-How do I remove wiper arms, they don't pivot all the way up for me to see the spline shafts.

-how do i best remove windshield chrome trim and in what order? with convertible trim also in place.

-best method to remove windshield, do I remove it before dash or after?

-windshield has wiper scuff marks, can they be buffed out?

-when I remove dash are there any gaskets that tell me its never been removed before ?  curious if there are any foam gaskets or other clues to look for.

Thank you!

Because I'm too lazy to look it up, a few questions for the gurus...That's why we're here :bigthumb:

-Trying to label everything on wiring harness as I remove, there was a free floating round plug 1" diameter with 3 spade slots whats it for inside engine bay ? At first I was going to say reverse light if a manual car, but three spades has me confused, did the car have factory cruise control ?

-driver foot board has module and vacuum tube that is several feet long inside engine bay, what is it? smog? throw it out? Sounds like your windshield washer foot pump for manual washers

-How do I remove wiper arms, they don't pivot all the way up for me to see the spline shafts. Use the edge on a screw driver to catch the edge of the wiper arm and just pry them off

-how do i best remove windshield chrome trim and in what order? with convertible trim also in place. Take the wide stuff off the bottom and then the to two large "L" shaped trim pieces. The convertible stainless can not come off until the windshield is out

-best method to remove windshield, do I remove it before dash or after? Either way doesn't matter however the dash comes out WAY easier once the windshield is out of the way...Cut around the windshield with wire or a hot knife..

-windshield has wiper scuff marks, can they be buffed out? Not really successfully count on replacing it

-when I remove dash are there any gaskets that tell me its never been removed before ?  curious if there are any foam gaskets or other clues to look for. The dash itself does not have any gaskets

Thank you! You're welcome :drinkingbud:

Thanks Alan,   I owe you a case of Molson one of these days..

First I cant believe they had a manual foot plunger for wiper fluid in 1971  .. is that on the build sheet?

Took the windshield chrome off last night, the clips were vary tenacious and put up a good fight PIA!

Are there clips holding the convertible trim on also ?

I attached pics of wire plug,  also latch alignment hole.. is something missing there?

thx !

OH....That is your transmission harness, plugs into the switch on the transmission and should have another brown/yellow wire that goes over to the starter relay.

Once the windshield is out, you'll find that the convertible stainless is held on by screws next to those trim clips you were fighting..

The manual foot washer pump is standard on all 1970-1974 Barracuda and Cudas that were not optioned with 3speed wipers and an electric pump.

The convertible alignment pin holes have an insert in each one. See my photo. Some had two small screws holding them in and some cars did not. My car does not.. they just push in.

Thanks for that, so it looks like mine are in place and held down by two screws.

The hole looks sloppy for alignment but I guess thats the way it is  :dunno:

Those inserts aren't so much for alignment, they're called "anti-rattle inserts". To my knowledge the push-in ones were '70 and the screw-in were '71 . But this is Mopar and year crossovers happened.

Well guys, windshield removal was a complete failure... I used a HF removal tool and it made things worse.  lesson learned.

Is the windshield the same size on convertibles?    where do I get new one for down the road.

Any specific make, any deals out there, rock auto carry them ?    Thx !

anlauto

AMD windshields are nice, available anywhere AMD is sold..

Pretty sure @RockAuto doesn't carry windshields

Convertibles and ALL E Body hardtops from 1970-1974 use the same windshield :alan2cents:
