Gut feeling on Taiwanese made panels…

Maybe it has something to do with quality of fitment. I couldn't imagine what an inexperienced person would do with an AMD quarter out of the box.

Hahahahaha! No $hit!!!!!!!!!!!  I've told this story before, but when I attempted to fit my new AMD outer and inner wheel wells to my new AMD 1/4 panels I got a shock at how bad they fit, primarily towards the rear lower section. When I lined up the guide holes of the wheelhouses you couldn't even get them in the wheelhouse. I called AMD and they put me over to their installation shop. After I'd explained my dilemma, the guy said "yeah, what we do is just toss 'em in and hang the 1/4 and make 'em fit from there" That's it!! I'm also a licenced bodyman and I can tell ya that there were days spent F'n around before I got a fit that although not perfect; that I could live with. They've got us over a barrel and you'd best brace yourself partner.

I used to work at a body shop in the early 80s then at a metal fab shop for ten years. Good thing. Lower rears fought me the most too. I purposely took 6 months on each side, tweaking, cutting, adding, removing, reinstalling, repeating. I'm a perfectionist so after a year they fit better than factory. Had to add a full inch along the underside behind each wheel and make several pie cuts to match contours. Then came the time to fit the original valance between the new quarters and tweaking continued another month. Now everything is perfect. Worth the time but I'd starve if doing it on flat rate. Lol. Can't see how any inexperienced guy could do it right if at all.

I did crash work for about ten years in the late`80`s- early`90`s and had to deal with horrible Taiwan parts many times - they are still far from perfect but thier quality has come a long way since then.
