So what are the thoughts on the "Multispeed Transmission" with electro-mechanical shifting? Certainly a first for EV, as far as I know. But I'm concerned it is just another gimmick like the sound, since EVs seem to go damn fast now without shifting.

Revealed at the 17 minute mark in the linked video. No details, since it is patented :)

i think there trans design will be geared to getting as much terror as possible out of that drive train,, i dont think there going down the gimmick road with this one,, seems like the (engine noise) is generated from the stator fan in the electric motor to coinside with rpms,,almost sounded like a turbine noise , i think it is all just part of here is mopar still in your face and we aint going away !!!!  gimmicks i dont think so,,, then again now that its out ther some tree hugger will probably have a problem with the (offensive noise) will see if it makes it to production

@torredcuda Great article, thanks! Good info to know heading into the "new world"  :clapping:

Like it! I even like the sound, (Because I'm a sound designer), can't beat a V8 but I can have that in my old cars. I hope its not totally fake, that it has some organic connection the the motor and is just amplified.
Gonna be very interesting to see what comes of this, I hope for only 2 doors on the Charger.

Certainly some design elements of the Gen 2 Charger.
I wonder how much water that hood will hold when it rains.  I can just see the birds coming for a drink and a dip.

They talked about aerodynamics, so I think it's likely open to the bottom front to allow air to flow through the front. :alan2cents:

They went with a more "blunt" front end and incorporated the "R-Wing" to improve the aerodynamics.

For those who did not see this 2011 Kevin James and Vince Vaughn movie or have forgotten about it, the whole silent electric car "problem" has been tackled and solved in the movie, "The Dilemma".

The sub-plot of the movie has them helping Dodge, yes Dodge, to create an electric musclecar with "sound".

The answer to the new Fratzonic exhaust sound is to just turn off the switch. 126dB of exhaust is a definite "cop magnet". LOL

I can remember when the 1999 Charger Concept was revealed. Everyone was going crazy about how cool it would be for Dodge to produce. A four-door with disguised rear doors but sleek.
The 2024 Charger Daytona SRT electric is far better looking, boasts an equivalent 885hp, zero to 60 in less than two seconds, and has styling cues from our beloved Charger past.

Unfortunately, Dodge is being forced to go this direction by political forces which reject fossil fuels and impose CAFE standards that push electric vehicles few can afford and most do not really want. The people want large trucks and SUVs with reasonably priced gasoline (<$2.50 per gallon).

North America has over 400 years of oil production remaining but we are pretending to abandon fossil fuels to go electric. The new fuel source ultimately will have to be nuclear but the current narrative is preventing that investment. I guess America is going to keep burning over 500 million short tons of coal per year to produce electricity with only 133 years of coal left, worldwide. I wonder what the coal usage will be after our internal combustion engines are legislated out of existence, essentially outlawed.

Carbon is carbon whether it comes from fossil fuels or coal.

With the latest weather events I think Mother Nature is showing how pissed she is. It will only get worse from here.

My view...Climate change slimate change. When I was a kid everyone was worried about another ice age. Mother nature goes through warming and cooling cycles. I don't believe we are changing the climate as humans. The only places worried much about it is in the US and some European countries.
Do you think Russia, China, Iran, North Korea are even slightly worried about Climate Change......NO! It's all about the dollar folks.  This summer has been hot in Europe it's true but here in Northern Michigan we have had one of the coolest summers weather wise. Years ago we had no internet to know what the weather was like in foreign countries. we only had four channels to watch when I was growing up until we got cable tv. Let the flaming begin.

I've always said, the earth will, and is going to do what it wants...we're just little specks on it....Ask yourself, how long have humans been keeping weather data VS how old the earth is ? Do you really think what we do has any affect on the weather ?

I am not saying humans have no impact on the eco system but we have what, a couple hundred years of accurate climate data (if that) on a planet over 4 billion years old and think we are experts on the subject?

Can do without the cheesy fake sound.
Well, it's not BB V8 sound, I could learn to like it, I think a car needs a sound, more for safety than appeal perhaps. It sure beats the fart can sound from tuners.

If it gets produced like that and at a price I can afford...I'll get in line.  :takemymoney:

:iagree: I think the sound is cool, no other manufacture would even dream of adding that option, and if you can turn it on or off....then what's the big deal....I love it  :stayinlane:

I shake my head every time I fly into Vegas because I think it's completely stupid to grow a city in a desert.

Anyway, yeah there isn't really a problem (*sarcasm*)
