I am putting the engine bay back together in my '74. I'm assembling the heater hoses and water valve. Looking at the cable, it has a loop in the end of it that I thought would fit over the lever on the valve, but if I use this, the travel on the valve doesn't match the travel of the slide in the dash. Reading the FSM, it mentions a retaining clip that holds the cable on the water valve. I assume this would allow the cable to be centrally positioned to allow the proper travel in the dash. Since I don't have one of this, it must have been missing since I bought the car. I must not be searching the correct terms as I can't find this clip on some of the resto parts websites.

Anyone have a picture of what this clip would like like in place or a line on a part number for a replacement?

This is the one for the actuator AC cable adjustment ...cable clip   What's crazy about that listing is it's a pic of my car with the clip installed...lol.. He's been using it for years in his add...It's showing the bakelite valve but if your metal valve has a similar metal tab it will work...

Thanks, that is a retaining clip to hold the cable. My valve has that built into it. I need the clip that adapts the cable to the lever.

I think that's it! I have the metal valve but it appears to have the issue with holding the cable sleeve to lever interface issue as the bakelite valve. Thanks!

Picked up that package of clips. It was the part I was missing. It allowed me to align the cable sheath at a point it will clip into the  retainer slot on the metal valve and still get the cable attached to the valve arm at a location that allows motion of the temp lever to the valve lever.

Thanks for the recommendation!
