Passenger-side rear brake drum gets very hot.  I already adjusted the star wheel but it ends up getting hot again.
I do not use the parking brake....ever.

Had this same issue after my car was restored. Made all the adjustments but still dragging and getting hot. Ended up being a bad flex line from frame to the rear end housing. The line had enough restriction that applied pressure would pass through but would not let it return to zero when released.

Does the tire spin fairly freely after the adjustment? Have you looked at the brake components to make sure nothing is binding? Maybe a spring is out of whack or there is an issue with wheel cylinder. Could the drum be a bit warped? Does it spin freely for a bit then slow down as it rubs, then free up again?

Two things come to mind, bad axle bearing or internally failed brake hose holding pressure.  I searched and found this post about a '68 Dodge truck having similar issues. It ended up in this case being a restriction at the tee where the brake hose connects at the axle housing. In our case the tee & hose are a single unit. You can diagnose pressure being held by getting the rear wheels off the ground & if the brakes release after opening the brake bleeder on the affected wheel a restriction is the cause.

This post covers the axle bearing issue pretty well.  https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/single-brake-drum-overheats.1206676/

Even if you never apply the parking brake it can cause problems if the cables and/or the parking brake lever inside the drum is binding. When the brakes are applied the brake shoes are expanded outward. As this happens the shoe connected to the parking brake cable pulls on the parking brake lever and cable as well and the cable is pulled slightly ahead out of it's housing. When the brakes are released the shoes return to their original positions. However if the lever or cable is binding the shoe on the parking brake can't return all the way and leads to dragging brakes and a hot drum.

Really common issue on all drum braked vehicles with automatic trans where the parking brake never gets used and becomes sticky.

The residual pressure valve can also be a problem , when did you last change fluid ?
