Right, I have not seen Alan here lately, have not been very active myself though, working too much, no time for my cars.
You guys are right, Facebook Zucks! We now have to pay for it here in Sweden, if we don't wanna get flooded with ads, most people do not pay, and the ads are getting worse and worse, a lot of scams. I do have FB though, if I see Alan in the e-bodies group, I will tell him that he is missed here.

Yes Twofacebook is in the process of dying too. I prefer forums like this and they are a source for documented information if you do proper searches unlike the opinions voiced on FB.

Quote from: 70_440-6Cuda on August 19, 2025, 10:53:12 AMwell, for my part I was not very active due to a lot of personal things going on with parents and kids and general family life, but now that I have been getting thisng going on my project again I definitely miss some of the technical advice - especially from those that have done many restorations - it is a bummer because I rely on this community heavily just because there is SO much I don't know about the details - plus its just fun
Yes, the number of really knowledgeable people that have left the forums are legion. I don't consider myself very knowledgeable, but 1WildR/T, Slotts, Moparal, Wages, Stroker, Strawdawg, and lots of others, I really miss their input.
Strawdawg and CP really helped me a lot when replacing the top end of my 440.

Sadly I was involved in the creation of this site & it was growing like crazy .... until 1 member showed up , I know many people unhappy with the result , most of the Quality people left at that time & have not returned .
As for me my passion for Mopars has not changed at all even being remote & living in Panama . I was committed to attending Carlise in 2020 but Covid , I was not allowed to enter the US until May last year which was too short notice to attend & this year I was ruined financially but there is light at the end of the tunnel now so I will return to Carlise .
Slotts is no longer able to to do the restoration work he was doing but I try to stay in touch with him .
I hope this site can build again & become a force for people seeking good knowledge on Mopars !

I hope that one member wasn't me!  :drunk:
I really never have noticed anyone here that was toxic with the exception of when that Mason Dixon Bot was spamming up the site posting dozens of E body ebay listings daily.  Maybe not toxic but very irritating looking for new and relevant postings and threads hidden in their stream of spam.
Moparts has always been the go-to site for toxic members.

Not You !!
the one mentioned that is missing at the beginning of the thread

I don't know, I always thought everyone ahs been pretty helpful, and lot's of good info there.  But I have not been here that long, and don't have history elsewhere  :dunno:

Sounds like maybe there was a little more drama behind the scenes with Alan than I was aware of.  I didn't have any issues with him and by and large liked his posts.  Though he tended to interject himself into many if not most posts and that can take a lot of the air out of the room when it happens.  All forums have members who seem to post on everything it seems, trying to build their post counts or lonely with too much time on their hands or whatever. It's sort of a given on forums that you're going to have members like that.
I said before I didn't remember any drama with him, but then I remembered a situation 4 or 5 years ago where he'd restored a car for another member here and then the member had issues with the paint and some electrical problems.  Unfortunately that dispute got shifted over to here and all that dirty laundry was getting posted here for a while.
After that, another member in the restoration business started trolling Alan every time he could and that was pretty ugly, he got warned to cool it and finally got shown the door when he insisted on continuing that.  Sad that happened as he was a known and respected guy in the Mopar world, However there were better ways to support someone he felt wronged than subject uninvolved members of a friendly forum to his put downs and trolling of someone he didn't like.
I am not inclined to take sides, but I have seen some other cars Alan has done that the owners were happy with and I am not aware of problems.  Hopefully that project was an outlier, and he did offer to try to fix things but the owner didn't want him near it again and just wanted his money back.  That's a lot to ask seeing how shops aren't swimming in cash to make huge refunds.  Alan's offer was heads above my experience with a restoration shop here in the midwest, who didn't offer any assistance to rectify problems with their work on my project and basically got mad at me for mentioning on forums I'd had problems, despite me not naming the shop (Well I'm sure people are messaging you and asking and you're telling them it was my shop that screwed up a lot of things!!).
I wish things would get busier here.  Not sure how you breathe life into car forums now.  Most seem to be down noticably in recent years.  I'm also a member of For B Bodies only, and that forum is still pretty busy and thriving.  We need to figure out what they are doing right there and use that here to fuel participation!

Yep, that was it in a  nutshell. Firstly there are always 3 sides to every story. Secondly the forum was in no way, shape or form connected with either party of the dispute, it's very unfortunate that people got their feelings hurt both ways and it is the forum that suffered through no fault of it's own. However, I guess that's the way life is sometimes, not always fair or logical. It's almost like some people felt that one member represented the forum which of course was not true. A lot of former members had a lot to give (hey life is supposed to be about giving and not taking right?) however they chose to leave. Nothing to do but hold your head high, plug your nose and keep trying to do things right I figure.
Personally I just want to see every Mopar done right and if I can help, I'll certainly try. No money in it for me, just a love for the cars. I agree with some people, others I don't.

Well sad to say I have been MIA from the site way more than I would like.  Unfortunately cars have not been at the top of my priority this year . . Many challenges in life at the moment.  Will get through it though so hopefully in the winter months, I will contribute more to the site.  Want to set a plan for next year Carlisle and make the show epic like it used to be.   :D   Will need help!
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

Chryco Psycho

Exactly JS27 , that is the story in a nutshell .

Part of the problem is a lot of good members left & some I am still in touch with .
Another part of the problem is everyone used to bring the older cars to Carlisle & I would help everyone with tuning or anything they needed , now it is all 2010 up , that has lost a lot of the "spark" for me .

Another issue is when I started CC I was 39 , now 65 , most of us have aged & we are not racing or building fast street cars anymore even tho the tech has made 1500 HP very easy !!

Let me know when you are coming to Panama Dodj or anyone else for that matter , I will meet you at the airport , help with bookings , show you around , anything I can do to help !

Have you tried to invite those members back, now that there is no drama?  Sometimes a personal invitation goes a long way.

70_440-6Cuda

as a late comer to the site, I agree sometimes a personal note goes a long way - I appreciate all of the input and think there is so much value here

As mentioned, there are always 3 sides to a story, and not much that cant be resolved with a decent conversation

I do miss the members who were very active on this forum - their input and insights on restoring our e-bodies were invaluable. And this thread does clear up some hunches I had, so thanks for starting this for us. I am grateful for the folks that have remained to continue to participate, and hopefully we can have some of the former members return.
