Thought I'd offer a product recommendation on this stuff after using it to restore original weatherstrips.

My roof rail weatherstrips are original to the car and they didn't get damaged during removal but they were oxidized and didn't look all that great. I was hoping there was a way to save them since original rubber always seems to fit just right and also seems softer than the aftermarket stuff I've tried.

Someone recommended it on another thread for tires so I figured it couldn't hurt to try. After cleaning with soap and water, I applied a liberal amount with a rag. I was amazed how they went from almost white to a nice deep black. They seemed even softer too. I even left them out in the sun a couple days figuring that the rubber would soak it up or they would dry up again and look oxidized. Nope, they still look like new so I installed them today.

Really happy with the results. I'm going to recondition the door weatherstrips too. Can't wait to actually use them on tires.

Adams makes good stuff, this looks fantastic!

Curious though, it's sold as a cleaner?
So that would mean it has solvents in it that may dry out rubber?
You found that it actually softened the rubber?

Can you report back in a month or 2?

Sure. The other thread I found in here, guys were using it as a dressing on their wheels and said it seemed to keep the rubber nourished. Hard to say if it actually softened the rubber weatherstrips or if removing the oxidation had the effect of making it feel softer. Like you say, I'll know in a couple months.
