Does anyone have any tips for removing the old wood grain from a 73 challenger floor console plate?
I've got one that I will restore with new wood grain 3M vinyl,  just wondering if anyone has effectively stripped the old vinyl and under lament away?  I was going to try aircraft stripper.  Maybe someone out there has a slick way they could share. , thoughts?  thanks

They are a pain in the arse....I use a heat gun and razor blade scraper :pullinghair:

PITA? Dammit that's not what i wanted to hear.

I'm about to undertake the exact same task. I was hoping soaking in some thinners or something might soften it?

Cheers,
Dylan

Take a heat gun to the bottom of the plate, that way the glue loosens before the sticker curls up and melts.

I recall someone posting about using WD-40 to soak under the sticker and dissolve the adhesive and scraping with a plastic putty knife.

Found this link while searching unsuccessfully for the above

I used a steam cleaner.  The hot water took off the decal fairly quickly.

Yep, I agree with RazorX, use a heat gun and various scrapers. I used a sharp paint scraper I got from a Sherwood Williams paint store and it worked well
