Center Console Lid

So, I have been told that a '71 Cuda center console has some sort of a cable on the rear lid to prevent it from opening too far.   
Can anyone else confirm this or better yet provide a picture of one?

That's a difficult question. You could post a question in Parts Wanted section, if you want. I don't believe there are any reproductions. Ebay doesn't have one, i just checked.

Make it out of 12 or 14 gauge black insulated wire and crimp a eyelet on each end. That's what it looks like in person.

Laminated stainless braided cable would be better than copper wire but I have only seen it with clear laminate , but you could buy a length of cable & dip it in plastic dip coat

Total Length is approx. 6 inches from the outer ends of the eyelets.

Mine measures 6" center to center of eyelet.

The console lid needs to have the provisions for the cable, a lot of them do not.....You should look closely at your console first

Wouldn't all of the factory original ones have it?

Is it just the re pops that might not have it?
