Dash Frame

I was looking over a parts stash that came with the 71 Barracuda.  In the trunk, there was this dash frame that looks similar to my dash frame except mine came with a center speaker and the extra has a rectangular cutout.  Did anything go into the square cutout or was it covered over with the dash pad?

Day pad will cover. The speaker is oval, the speaker bezel is rectangular

The square just adds clearance for the speaker and wiring....ALL the metal frames are the same.
