Door bumpers

I was under the impression that the two vertical slots at the top and bottom outside edge of the doors ('70 'Cuda) were for rubber door bumpers.  According to my research all Mopars in the 60s and up through 1970 used the same door dumpers.  It was supposedly redesigned in 1971.  I recently purchased four new ones and as you can see by the picture they are too long to fit in the slot.  So did I receive the 1971 and up versions or do they go somewhere else on the doors and something else goes in these vertical slots.   :notsure:  FYI, my service manual was not any help with this.    :help:

Originally there were two lengths of bumpers, they only sell the long version... A razor blade will quickly shorten the long version to a short version....
