For those of you who have purchased new replacement leaf springs...

Did you just install them as-is or did you repaint them?  They are usually sprayed with a cheap black paint AFTER they are assembled.  That means they are bare metal between the leaves.  It doesn't usually take long before rust starts showing on the edges.  What did you do?

I paint each leaf separately before assembly, with a good quality dark cast grey colour. I guess you could also use clear powder coat ?

I painted mine without disassembling them.

I bolted the sumbitches on, just the way they came from Mother Mopar and so far, so good. Just my  :alan2cents:

On my Challenger I disassembled the new MP springs, wire wheeled the paint off and RMP'd each leaf.  The Dart springs will just be black so I wasn't sure if I needed to disassemble them like I did with the Challenger.

I thought about removing the clamps and just loosening the center bolt to let the leaves open up a little so I could get some paint down in between them.  At that point though it isn't much more work to take them completely apart.
