My Ralley Wheels are in desperate need of painting. They are black and will keep the color and go with a two part paint. They seem shiny, but not sure if they are gloss black or semi gloss. Any thoughts?

The 2 part paint will hold up really well.  I prefer gloss on wheels since it's easier to keep clean.

I'm sure black looks good, but have you thought about using the factory silver?

tparker

Nope, they are factory black and keeping the color scheme. The car is yellow with black vinyl top. The black wheels against the yellow looks good on it.

What type of wheels are we talking about ?

"Ralley Wheels" NEVER left the factory black on the front side. The correct way to paint a rallye wheel is black on the backside with a silver front.

14" Magnums were chrome spokes with a black in between them ?

Plain steel wheels started out body colour, then ended up black mid 71 production year.

So which do you have ?

Hmmmm.... Interesting. I haven't really looked at the wheels in detail in years. They were always black. Closer inspection shows some of the black peeling and revealing silver. That's weird cause there wasn't much that was modified on the car.

Argh, black looked so cool. What to do?!?!

Hey Alan,
were all standard wheels painted body color in 70 ? My car came with 14" steel wheels with the Deluxe (Challenger) wheel cover. So were mine EV2 under the hub cap ??
Thanks

I am new here and I realize this is an old thread but..

I am in the process of restoring my 70 T/A I have had it since 1977 and stored since 1980, I believe I am the 3rd owner.  My car came with Cragars 5-spoke but I just decoded the build sheet and it shows TX9 Wheel Color Black.

I have never seen black Rally wheel but thought I would share that.
