So I have watched and re-watched CudaCody's excellent steering column vids quite a few times, and I have several questions.  I'm rebuilding a 1973 Challenger Rallye, floor shift. And my steering column seems different than the E body columns Cudacody featured in his vids.  Mine does not have the inner locking tube. But rather has a locking device inside the main tube.  Please see Photos.  My main question is... do I need a lower column bearing?  There was no bearing on the column when I disassembled it.  If so, which one should I get?    Also, the "Crush can" that was on the column when I bought it is the shorter one on the left in the photo.  I bought the Crush can on the right to install.   Doers that shorter cursh can identify what this column is from. I'm assuming its not an Ebody.  Maybe C or A? IDK   I'd love to solve this mystery and also to know if I need a Lower bearing.  Thanks

The "bearing" is that beat up looking plastic piece in the bottom of your sceond picture....The column is an E Body, ONLY 1970 had the lock tube.  :alan2cents: The short adaptor is worth some money... :bigmoney:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Awesome !!  I had read that the "retainer clip" is actually a bearing... of sorts.    Missed that about the 70 only having an inner Locking tube.  and HELL YEAH  Money for the short adapter.  Thank you for the quick response.  I got everything new coming and can rebuild this column now.   Sweet.

Not sure what column you are dealing with but the bearing to replace the plastic "bearing" is the ER16 or SER205-16 with 1" inner diameter and 52mm outer diameter.
You may need to dress the inside of the column's sleeve with crocus or emory cloth but the bearing will fit perfectly (interference fit).
