No insult intended but.....I think I would hide it too!

I'm glad it will now get the restoration that it deserves.

Eeyah: A restoration will be a big improvement on that 80's vibe. On the upside I bet it isn't bad for rust.

Better believe it!
And yes the car is now restored, but I wanted to give some teasers instead of simply posting pics of the finished car....  ;)

1 Wild R/T

FWIW I love checking out cars done up in the wild 80's custom look...... Just wouldn't want my car to have the wild 80's custom look.....  It would be cool to keep it like that if it wasn't such a special car it it's own right..... If they had started with a 318 low option car it would be cool to leave it......

So we pick up the story about 10 years after the customizing, about 2-3 000 miles later, it gets into another fender bender and gets sold a couple of times, always staying relatively complete, but none of the owners courageous enough to try to undo the bodywork... Until a friend of mine finally gets his hands on it in 2005, with a partner, to bring itback to stock for his daughter to drive. The work begins, but a Moulin Rouge 'Cuda is also found, so after completing the surgery, it is sold again!
Amazingly, undoing the work doesn't leave too many scars, the original quarter panels are saved, with some work done to the wheel openings, and front fenders replaced with NOS ones (dealer replacements, with correct markers and 72-74 notch on top). The valence was still intact under the front spoiler... The sunroof is closed up with a formed panel from a wrecked car, and it receives a quick paint job in White to make it more presentable.
After bouncing through two more flippers, someone will finally give it the proper restoration it deserved,,, but that's for another post!

That looks a bit better already. I really hate that sunroof they took out, hopefully they took an axe to it.

So after bouncing through a couple of flippers/hopeful restorers, someone finally starts on a proper restoration in 2006-2007!
I don't have restoration pics yet, still haven't spoken with that owner, but I'll let you see by the pics the quality of the final product...
First of all, he chose to substitute the bumble bee stripe for a longitudinal R/T stripe, and the Go-Wing with a T/A spoiler, but I'll live with those,,, the rear fender mounted antenna is something that would need to go eventually.
Engine and trans are matching-numbers, Wiper motor has correct date code, but needs refinishing, same for alternator and AVS carb, all seem correct and original to the car.
All of the factory options were included, except for the door edge guards, and a flip-top gas cap was also added. I have a set of OEM door edge guards, but will not put them on, simply display them in the trunk!
There are some other small details I can see offhand, rad cap, master cylinder cap and booster decal, unpainted bypass hose and negative cable, upside-down voltage regulator, please feel free to point other things you feel are incorrect!
So here it is, my new ''project''!

:wowzers:  I think it's gorgeous! I absolutely love it. I think it would be even nicer with the bumblebee stripe! I'm glad that the car got restored nicely and I'm glad it's in your hands to finish it up! Congratulations
