Hey Randy @cudaragtop  any updates on this project, it's been almost a year since the last one 

I have heard people talk about waiting to get their car out of paint shop jail.
Well we have been waiting to get our car in...

I have a number of small parts that will be getting a chance to see the inside of one, up close and personal.

Loaded up and headed to my painter for final paint.

Hopefully they can turn it around in a reasonable amount of time and of course a decent price

Will find out today what the estimate is for time and materials...
It was epoxy primed and jammed when I brought it home in 2017 after all the metal work and body work was done.
In 2017 his shop rate was $85hr... Today it is $120hr That's a 41% increase 

Going to have them:
1. Prime and Raptor liner the bottom side of the new tunnel.
2. Scuff, prime and repaint the engine compartment and Radiator Core support. Was painted but I made some new holes and filled some old ones...
3. Inside, they will scuff and apply the Lizard Skin Sound control and Thermal barrier to the firewall, floor and ceiling. I sourced the full Lizard Skin kit from Jegs.
4. Prep and paint the entire outside.

I'm setting the over/under for the estimate at $11,999.99 ++

My guess is $9,600 + tax + materials
I don't see 80hrs work but we shall see... 

They got right on it though.

That sounds really reasonable, it will be interesting to hear their side of the story....LOL.....and of course what it actually ends up being in the end. .

Well, the estimate came out to 120 hours...
I was only off by 50%...

Oh well, they cost what they cost... it will be a well done custom when done and I will know every bit of what and how it was done. I will still have a bit of work left for myself, putting the car together, wiring, drivetrain, interior, glass, etc...

Received the AMD Mopar licensed Reproduction Tinted windshield yesterday. Looks like a very nice piece.
Came in a really big cardboard box with a big hole in it.
Windshield was fine though, almost completely encased in that bagged expandable foam.

You have the perfect attitude about getting work done I deal with so many different personalities when dealing with customers, or more often potential customers who think they have a better idea of what things cost then I do....

I remember wondering how bodywork could possibly cost so much, until I started doing my own. Mechanical is fairly easy to estimate but bodywork is a time sponge that seems to take on a life of it's own once you get into it. I don't think I've ever thought to myself "well that went pretty fast" after doing bodywork/painting/fabbing.
I've found a few great guys that knew their stuff and got it done. It's a happy time when you find a good one.

Always wonderful to see immediate progress

A little more progress.
Tunnel work done and U-Pol Raptor applied to the tunnel and floor area. Welded in some additional bracing for the trans cross member.
Inside scuffed, primed and Lizard Skin Sound Deadener applied.
Next will be Lizard Skin Ceramic insulation over the sound deadener followed by Lizard Skin Top Coat.
Then it will finally be time for Paint...
