Inside of the Challenger fuel door is done.
Enclosure behind it inside to keep fuel/weather out of the trunk.

There are stainless machine screws holding the enclosure in the trunk to the fuel door housing.
A bulb seal between the enclosure and the inside of the quarter panel.
A drain will route from the nipple on the bottom of the housing out through one of the trunk extension plugs.
Sectioned the original Barracuda fill tube and married it to the Challenger fuel door.
Will utilize the original Barracuda fill tube vent also.

In my garage. This is where the rest of the assembly is being done.

245/45-R17 on Year One 17x8 up front are not going to fit.  :Thud:
Will need to find different wheels with more positive offset.

Wheel/Tire Tool from Speedway.

One of the Driver's side header tubes was touching the driver's side torsion bar sooooo...
Harbor Freight for a new tool.
Daytona 4-Ton Ram tool set. $70 off for ITC members.
Used the short Ram inserted between the frame and header tube.
Worked great.
Removed the torsion bar.
Used a couple block of steel tapped together as a spacer and to spread the load on the header tube.
Now have a 1/4" of clearance and no dent in the header. Yay!

Swapped out the stock lower control arms for QA1 LCA's.
Sold the Hotchkis Front Sway Bar (Not Compatible with QA1 K-Member)
Have a QA1 front sway bar still in the box and ready to go on.

Tore a dust boot on the driver's side lower ball joint...

Replaced it with one from a 4 piece kit from Energy Suspension
Energy Suspension 5.13102G Ball Joint Dust Boot for Chrysler
Fits pretty good but doesn't have the metal ring inside like the stock ones.
Glued it on with some gasket adhesive.

Shame about the front rims...I guess you can't just go with a smaller tire ?

Don't want to go skinnier or shorter than 245/45-17
Will have to run smaller tires just as rollers to get it going and a front end alignment.
Then I'll be able to determine the exact amount of offset/backspace that will work.

Tried to find 17" Aluminum Mopar style cop wheels with no luck...

Trying to get my son on board with these Black Magnum 500 style from American Racing
A pair of standard off the shelf 1 piece in 17x9 +0mm offset for the rear and a pair of Custom offset 2 piece 17x8 +15mm offset for the front. Might have to order the Black/Polished or Black/Machined and have them powder coated...
I really like these a lot!
VN501

My son would rather have TE37 or TE37 clones like these...

I think they're okay but I really like the all black VN501's!!
May have to pull rank on him.  ;)

The slots do give it more of an old school look which I think would work better with that car.
How is your son doing with the project? Is he staying interested? As I recall he's a teenager, no?

Yup, the more I look at them the more I like them.
He was a teen when I started the project, he's 24 and a junior in college now.
He's still interested, mostly in when it will be done. ;-)

Definitely the "Magnum style" out of those two choices, personally not a fan of black wheels whatsoever, but I can see the direction your headed in with this build

Started working on fitting a 2016 Challenger gauge cluster into an A-Body Rallye Dash Bezel. Mocked up with some duct tape. Need to figure out how to marry the two together cleanly, add some support brackets and then refinish it.
Will be deleting the Heater control and radio openings. Will get Classic Auto Air controls and some type of Bluetooth Stereo with minimal interface.

Also scored a pair of nice Gen3 Viper seats for a pretty good deal. Had planned on using Neon SRT4 seats and reupholstering them but the Viper seat are good to go as is. Just had to swap over the seat bases from the Neon seats over to the Viper seats.
The Neon seat are nice but the Viper seats are nicer.
Seat bases are for A-Body Mopar from Corbeau. Retaining the factory sliders.

What are your plans for a heater or AC system ? and radio ?

I have Classic Auto Air and their Billet Black Controls for the AC/Heat.
Haven't decided on the Stereo yet. Cutting the hole out bigger isn't an issue but might just need a small control panel for a hidden Bluetooth unit.

I think the AC/Heat controls are a little too tall to fit next to the wiper switch, so will go somewhere in the black area above. Would like to fit AC vents into the black area too if I can.

There is also going to be some space available on the Challenger console where the Challenger Stereo and AC/Heater controls are. We will decide when I have the Dash and console in the car together.

Dash is at my painter's shop. Waiting for him to spray it with some Black Suede paint I got from https://8774paint1.com/
