Second lease on life 73 Challenger.

I have my A-body at my buddies shop in Fairmont WV 1.5 hrs from you.
He is finishing the paint on my car, I just ran out of time with all the E-bodys I have know.
I did the metal work, and had the sides basicaly finished, he just did the little push to get it painted.
He called me today and said today it was trimmed in and would be painted and back to me by this weekend.

The best thing is when he first looked at the car, he said about a month. 
This Friday will be a month and it is done, he has a couple of guys working for him, and turns out really slick quality paint jobs reasonable.

He also picked my car up on his trailer, and will deliver it back to my house, even though the car is driveable.

Moving along. I went ahead and got the gas tank/trunk supports welded in today. Hoping by Friday when my schedule allows me I'm able to test fit and mock up the trunk in the car as well as the driver side trunk extensions along with finishing up welding in the outer wheel well.

You may be already doing this, but I'd assemble that sheet metal you referred to by clamping it all and fitting from there, once you get your fit, then drill some screw/cleco holes to maintain your fit before welding it all together. Otherwise, if there's a discrepancy, the tolerances can stack and leave you a problem down the road. Good luck!

I appreciate that. I'm actually going to give it a go on my own on the paint part of it. Doing the single stage route as well, the way the factory use to do it even though bc/cc is the way to go now adays.

Dumb question, but when welding this to the trunk pan does the end with the two holes but up against that pan or do they face down?

what kind of dye did you use?

It's just a replacement rear frame cross member I purchased from AMD i believe.

Obviously the four holes line up with the four hole in the end of the frame rails for bumper mounting. Then the holes on the flange in your picture go "down" on the bottom and the trunk floor welds to the top lip with no holes.

Well after the questions today I feel like I got some things accomplished. Trunk pan and extensions are mocked up and being held in place by screws. Same can be said about the rear cross member. Plan on doing some welding tomorrow.

Just a FYI. Don't weld the ends of that cross member to the drops the little extension pices go between the top flange and the floor area  —- I had to drill out some welds when I installed them

Awesome. Thanks for the insight, I was wondering if small extensions flange went above or below the cross member flange.
