#2 and #3 should be one piece. They are stamped as one piece and the quarter panel overlaps it in the back. You are going to have to keep stripping the rocker, moving forward to find were the previous repairs were started and then fill that area.

The extra reinforcement doesn't look right either, I don't think it should be cut right there. Maybe if more of the rocker is exposed you will get more info.

Great, thats the info I was asking about, so #3 is cut like I suspected! I'm gonna sandblast the whole rocker and see where the seam is, it's probably very close to that point, the rest of the rocker seems to be original if I look at the welds on the bottom (guy who did the repairs on my car was not able to do spot or plug welds, just ugly MIG welds on the edges).

And like I said, the inner reinforcement is fine, not cut at all, the black area you see on the picture right where the #1 arrow ends is a shadow caused by the outer rocker, looks like a cut but its not. I can see all the way inside if I shine a flashlight, but when I take a photo I get shadows.

I get it now, this is what the rocker should look like, and mine is cut off.
Glad I removed the quarters now, wouldn't have found this problem otherwise.

Yeah specially on a convertible, you want that area to be 100% solid. I see what you mean with the shadow on the inner reinforcement, just a shadow effect.
Looks like it should be an easy job to get your rocker fixed up and you will be in good shape.

This car was "restored" and freshly painted with FC7 when I bought it, so far, I have redone every single repair they made!  :pullinghair:

To my defense... I didn't get ripped off or anything, I was happy with it as it was, I saw that the car needed a lot of work when I bought it, and I only paid 28k for it, pretty cheap to be over here. But I didn't see most of the bad body repairs at the time, those were hidden under paint and undercoating.

As long as you are happy with the car that is what matters. I don't know what it costs for shipping a car/vehicle over the ocean, but it can't be cheap, so I have to agree the price is within the norm. Every once in awhile you see a Fred Flinstone car sell for for big money and then having to factor in shipping and the known repairs can be out of sight. Keep up the good work and the thread.  :ohyeah:

That does sound like a good deal especially not having to deal with importation and transportation. You'll know you have a great car when this is over too.

Yep, grinded off some paint and bondo, and there was the seam. Cut it out and in the process of fixing it now. So they probably cut out some rust and just left it open, then welded the end of the quarter direct to the rocker edge.
I really hope the right side is solid.  :fingerscrossed:

(The black part in the second picture is a shadow again, its not cut off).

The rocker looks like its in good shape if that's all you have to repair. Should be an easy repair.

Are the rocker reinforcement pieces currently being reproduced?
