7E-Bodies

My Challenger project had a 2 piece trunk pan replacement by a previous owner, body shop installation.  Nice work, I just prefer single and an AMD full pan.  I don't want to go through the labor to remove quarter and wheel wells that are solid and am considering removing the tail panel and sliding in that way. Tail panel has one small area I'd like to weld up by where it meets the pan anyway.  Anything wrong with this idea before I proceed?  Plenty of body shop experience, just never tried one this way. Went in from the side in the past.

If you remove the tail panel you should be able to slide a floor pan in.
Mopar or no car!!!

You can slide it in without removing the tail panel... It comes in from below the tail panel at a low (maybe 15 degree) angle below the tail panel & over the rails... Sometimes the rear crossmember has to come out but not on a 70 Challenger...  But If you have a reason to remove the tail panel then there is plenty of room...

Supposedly you can get a full pan in an E-body by removing part of the panel under the tail and sliding it up and in.  I've seen pics but can find them.  Here is same technique being used on an A-body.

Working on mine. I got the rear crossmember loose, it slid in fine under the tail panel. My quarters are cut up so the tailpanel can move a little bit up also.
