Just checked my 71 challenger and it has a PPG logo. I don't believe the examples shown from MMC are from a convert rear window. MMC states AS4 rating and the examples show AS2.

From the factory they were all glass back windows in my opinion, but can anybody tell me whether or not there were "clear" back windows AND/OR "tinted" ? I believe they were all clear  :dunno:

From my 71 convertible. The top was replaced in the early 80s and I specified the window had to be like an original glass window. This may be a replacement.

Posting a picture of my HOT label just to document the factory process.

Also sorry to side track but since we are talking about convertibles:

- is the side glass correct in pics hopefully ?

- the rear view mirror is hard to find if I recall reading correctly?  I have mine but heavy corrosion on thinner sheetmetal under cover.    The stem has lots of pitting also but not of concern.   are any parts available?

I've had 2 71 verts and a 70 vert. All 3 were glass.

Alan,
ALL factory E-Body convertible rear glass (curtain) were glass. Never plastic. Plastic was a low cost replacement.
They were all Clear glass and never TINT, even with G11 All Glass Tinted. CGW
All had a Pentastar. Also a date code. Sometimes a very faint white stamp and difficult to see. Sometimes faded over time.
I can post pictures.

Very early replacements came with the PPG emblem, but no Pentastar.
Later replacement from other vendors used PPG design glass, but sold under a different brand such as HURCULITE. We see these a lot.

Lastly: what year and date code is your friend looking for?

I have successfully installed an original rear glass, into a new reproduction rear curtain of the convertible top.

Are you concerned that your rear side windows are not convertible specific? Take a look at the following pictures.

Rear view mirror parts: are you needing the two thin metal stem attaching pieces? They are being reproduced.

@cudaized, thank for posting pictures, I measure ~ 11" wide so should be good.

link is also exactly what I needed for rear view mirror  Thx!

So the door glass is same for hardtop vs vert ?  70-74 ?

In the last pictures, there is a black plastic piece behind etching.  I only found one of those sitting at the bottom of opening... no idea where is goes and the other side did not have it.

Door glass is not the same for HT's and verts.
HT's have a round top front corner whereas verts have a square one.
